Philip Swan

Philip (30) is married to Guinevere and they have a son Soren, born 1 Feb 2006.

Philip spends most time teaching and performing on the drums. He has played with Christian artists Tim Hughes and Paul Colman (see photo above from BlackStump '05), urban poet and groove-pop singer/songwriter TJ Eckleberg, and performs regularly with Irish/country/rock group the Phil Davidson Trio , with the Steve Morrison trio, and with his own jazz ensemble Smor jaz bord .

He has also done some work as a piano player, singer, and composer. His songs can be heard on the albums For the Cross , Every Promise , and Songs for the Soul .

Philip earned a Bachelor of Music majoring in Jazz Studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (1994–1997), studying drums with Barry Stewart and Gordon Rytmeister. In 1999 he did an honours year at The University of Sydney, studying composition with Anne Boyd and Ian Shanahan.

He has run Band, Drums, Keyboard and Composition seminars at the Australian Christian Music Seminar, Cooma NSW (1998–2002) and TWIST Music Conference , Sydney NSW (2003–2006).
